Celebratory Summer Tea Menu
Around here we love any excuse to throw a party, so why not make an entire summer tea party menu featuring this iconic summer vegetable. You’ll find tomatoes everywhere in this menu, so it’s important that we start with tea pairings that also highlight tomatoes. Of course, we love the summer staple iced tea, but a hot cup of tea is also a lovely option for a rainy day or cool evening. For pairing with this menu, we went with teas that do great either warm or cold.
For starters, we suggest our Kitchen Table Blend black tea with citrus flavors of summery lemon and lime. If you want to kick it up a notch, try the Blackberry Mojito-inspired blackberry black tea with lime.
For the rest of the menu, why not start with a bite-sized stuffed tomato appetizer? A savory scone such as our Parmesan Wheat Scones makes for a great vehicle to spread a sundried tomato and goat cheese spread.
Since tea sandwiches are a must-have, try a trio that includes this hummus tomato finger sandwich as well as pesto chicken and simple cucumber cream cheese sandwiches. For a soup, try our chilled avocado soup with tomato salsa. Finish this menu off with any one of our sweet treats and you have a menu fit for royalty.
Tomato Finger Sandwich
These hummus and tomato tea sandwiches are a perfect example of simple deliciousness. All the ingredients are fresh and blend themselves together to create a multidimensional sandwich. The hummus acts not only as a base for the sandwich but also adds a bit of moisture. The peppery arugula adds a bit of texture and spice, while the thick slices of tomato really bring flavor and juiciness. The whole thing is tied together with a slice of provolone cheese that balances the peppery notes of the arugula and the sweetness of the tomato.
