Tea & Beverage Mix-Ins (A La Carte Herbs)

per oz (makes 15-20 cups)

While our hand-blended teas are thoughtfully crafted for all of life’s moments, we also are proud to offer our a la carte, all-organic herb “mix-ins.” These are perfect for creating simple syrups, adding flavor when baking, spicing up cocktails, transforming your lemonades and juices, adding to your bath, or using a pinch to customize one of your favorite Plum Deluxe tea blends.

So well known as a relaxing herb (great for upset stomachs) and enjoyable by itself as a tea or a calming addition into any of our other teas – just a pinch will do – you can also use it for baking or a great cocktail addition (try it infused into gin!).

Fabulous for your immune system, our tart elderberries are just wonderful – we love adding them into scones, cakes, or cookies. A little goes a long way! Add them to any tea for an immunity boost or brew them solo for a tart punch.

Better known as an addition to liqueurs and cordials, elderflowers are wonderful in sangria or for adding a brightness to teas or lemonade. It also makes a wonderful dance partner with our other mix-in herbs, like rose or lavender.

Tart and full of powerful antioxidants, hibiscus is a great tea just by itself, which you can add to lemonades. You can also pair hibiscus with other herbs, like lemon or chamomile, to make your own fruity herbal tea.

Delicate and calming, jasmine flowers are wonderful in a cup of our Royale Green tea or our Royale Honeybush Tea. Jasmine is also a fun add-in for sangria or other cocktails, or a delight in any iced tea.

Perhaps the most versatile mix-in – add to your bath, use as a fragrant room sachet, slip a few crushed flowers into your brownie mix – it’s also perfect for tea. Add a pinch into your Earl Grey for a “Lady Grey” or put a handful of lavender flowers into your lemonade for the most refreshing party beverage.

Lemon Peel

Absolutely terrific in your English Breakfast tea, or try pairing with our Mindful Morning for a twist; you can also infuse it into gin or vodka for your own mixer.  Toss lemon peel into your spice grinder and use for baking or spice rubs, or simply brew it up plain for a calming cup of herbal tea.

Lemon Verbena

One of our favorites in the “lemon” category, use this as an addition to spice rubs or a great herbal tea. It’s also one of the best lemon products for baked infusions (it’s great in ice cream or infused creams).

Orange Peel

Add this into your English Breakfast for a wonderful, bright tea (hot or iced), or put it into your coffee for added brightness and balance. You can also put it into your spice grinder and use for baking.

Where is peppermint not wonderful? We love it in cocktails, for baking, or just to brew up a glass of it with a drop of honey for a most simple, refreshing tea. It’s also great for spa water, sprinkled on top of fruit salad, or added to lemonade or other teas.

Red Rose Buds

Simply magical in their natural habitat, a pinch of rose buds and their fragrant petals adds a floral intrigue to all teas, lemonade, or cocktails. We love rose petals in a sachet or cheesecloth for a bath balm.

Additional information

Choose an Herb

Chamomile ($3), Elderberry ($3), Elderflower ($4), Hibiscus ($3), Jasmine ($4), Lavender ($4), Lemon Peel ($3), Lemon Verbena ($4), Orange Peel ($3), Peppermint ($3), Red Rose Buds ($3)

Ingredients:All organic herbs, cut and sifted. Our herbs are unsulfered and do not have preservatives, so their flavor is much stronger/fresher than what you'd buy in the spice aisle at the grocery store. Best if used within 6 months of purchase.

Preparation Suggestions:
- To make as a single-ingredient tea, place 1 tsp of herbs in a cup of boiling water for 4-6 minutes.
- To add to another tea blend, simply add a pinch to 1 tsp of existing tea and follow existing tea preparation instructions.
- To make a simple syrup, bring 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar to a boil, whisking until sugar is dissolved. Then remove from heat and stir in 2 tablespoons of herbs. Allow the syrup to cool before straining it into a bottle. It will keep in the fridge for a week.
- For infusing lemonade or juices, we suggest 1 tablespoon of herbs per 5 cups of liquid. So for example, a large pitcher of lemonade (typically around 96 fl oz) would need 2.5-3 teaspoons of herb for infusion. Allow to infuse at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- For vodka or other spirit infusions, use 3 tablespoons of herb per 1 liter of product. Allow to infuse 3-5 days for imparting best flavor.

Due to the exacting and very personal nature of our specialty blends, we cannot offer refunds or exchanges on the tea that we sell. If you find that you get a shipment that is not, well, your cup of tea, we ask that you pass it along to a friend who will enjoy it. Then share your feedback with us so we can continue to improve our product.

Allergy Information: Plum Deluxe teas are hand-blended in a single facility that also processes tree nuts.

Our Policy on Organic Sourcing: Almost all of the ingredients purchased by Plum Deluxe for our teas are backed by USDA-compliant organic certifications. In cases where we work with a non-certified vendor, we are purchasing ingredients that are carefully wildcrafted, ingredients that are from a region of the world that does not have an organic certification program (such as parts of Japan or Taiwan), or from small family farms that cannot yet afford their certification or have not yet completed their certification. In all cases, we very carefully vet our products to ensure their are full of flavor, without any unwanted chemicals, artificial flavors, or genetically modified organisms. Thank you for trusting us to find the freshest, most delicious ingredients that are grown on sustainable, fair trade farms by companies we know, like, and trust.

About Us: Plum Deluxe is not just a tea company, we are a community on a mission to create moments that matter. Learn more about us here (and about our name - no, we do not put plums in all of our teas).
