One Pot Meal Recipe: Easy Sausage Delight

We know that some nights, an extravagant dinner party spread is just not possible, especially on those late weeknights. But having a hot, home cooked meal with a glass of wine is such a great way to end a hard day.
I suspect, if you're like me, you like the idea of products that make life easier, but most of those box mixes are flat on flavor. A one-pot meal recipe is a great way to fix a fast, yummy dinner. Today, I'm featuring a recipe I have been wanting to try for ages: easy sausage delight.

This particular recipe is similar to hamburger helper, but much tasier. And as promised, you can almost pour everything right into a pan and let it cook. In this case, I'm using Jimmy Dean sausage, so you just need to brown the sausage and then load it up. Prep time is just under 30 minutes -- you're going to love this.

Easy Sausage Delight

Ingredients:
  • 1 pound Jimmy Dean pork sausage
  • 1 1/2 uncooked pasta (rice flour macaroni used in photos above)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 3/4 cup sharp cheddar, cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Shredded Parmesan, to taste (topping)

Preparation:
Brown sausage and drain. Add in rest of ingredients and stir to combine. Bring mixture to boil, then reduce heat to a simmer, ensuring the cheese melts evenly by stirring frequently. Place a lid on pot and allow mixture to continue to simmer while pasta cooks, about 15 minutes. Stir frequently to avoid burning.
Serve piping hot with a pinch of shredded Parmesan, a side of roasted veggies, and a glass of a simple, fruit-forward red wine. Bon appetit!
