Spring Cleaning for Body, Mind, and Spirit

Spring Cleaning for Body, Mind, and Spirit
When we think about spring cleaning (which can happen any time of year, not just spring), we tend to thing about our homes and offices and those places that we spend our time. But how about the body and brain that we also carry around with us, day in and day out? Our body, mind, and spirit can also use a good sprucing up now and then.
If you're feeling short on time, I suggest trying out 15 Minute Self-Care Rituals. Otherwise, consider some of these holistic spring cleaning tips for health and well-being.

Spring Cleaning for Your Body

When you think about spring cleaning for the body, I think of balance -- not detox. In fact, it technically isn't possible to 'detox' the body, so let's shift the focus to balance.
How do you give your body a bit of balancing? Yoga is a great option. For this purpose, I'd encourage you to check out Seane Corn, although there are lots of free classes on YouTube -- or you can try these Plum Deluxe yoga moves.
You could treat yourself to a massage, which can help release stress and tension that you're carrying around, and loosening up those joints can encourage you to get more exercise and movement. Can't afford a massage? Pick up a bottle of doTERRA Balance Essential Oil and rub into shoulders, wrists, or feet for creative calm.
I also am a big believer in the healing powers of a good hot bath. Lots of epsom salt and/or sea salt, soak for an hour, body restored. Treat yourself to an hour of relaxation - send the kids off with a relative, suggest your partner go out for the night with their friends. You deserve it.

Spring Cleaning for Your Mind

When I think about spring cleaning the mind, I think more in terms of traditional spring cleaning: decluttering. Clear out old habits, freshen up perspectives.
How do you declutter your mind? I have a few ways. Firstly, if you aren't meditating, please try our free 3-minute meditations to get yourself started. Taking time every day to step out of the stream and flow of life to check in with yourself is the best way to keep your mind running in top condition.
Another great way to restore the mind is to go for a walk in nature. Walking/hiking is great to get yourself into a meditative state, and the sights/smells/sounds of nature can really calm frayed nerves, soothe worries, and remind you that everything really is going to work out just fine.
Lastly, with a mindset decluttering, you should try to work on any triggers that are cluttering your day. I've written about many people's biggest mindset trigger, but you can do lots of other things: releasing toxic relationships or reworking your schedule so you're not so late all the time.
Our Making Moments Matter worksheet can help you finding the pain points in your day.

Spring Cleaning for Your Spirit

Last, but not least, is your spirit. How I look at spring cleaning your spirit is about being more connected to your true self -- and whatever you believe is above and beyond that.
Again, meditation is great for tuning in on this one. However, sometimes the best way to feel more in tune with your spirit is to go out and have fun. When is the last time you were with your favorite people in life, laughing uncontrollably? If you don't know the answer to that question, it's time to book a play date.
Getting out of town for the weekend can be a great way to get out of a rut and get perspective on all of the things we've been discussing above. I also am a big fan of journaling; writing down your thoughts, questions, and concerns is a great way to release those to a higher power, and perhaps just putting it on paper can help you connect the dots.
Taking care of your body, mind, and spirit ensures that you can find, show up, and fully enjoy all of life's moments.
