Originally featured in our 2018 holiday calendar, this tea was such a hit that we decided to keep it in our permanent lineup.  It’s a chocolate chestnut blend with a splash of something unexpected…banana.  Ever notice how the addition of banana can really add something lovely (think banana bread, banana splits…).

This blend is not just a great herbal tea but a wonderful conversation starter and the perfect relaxation accompaniment.

About the Tea Maker

I'm Andy Hayes, founder of Plum Deluxe and chief tea maker. Please allow me to walk you through the process I use to create the unique tea blends you'll discover being a Plum Deluxe tea drinker. While you may be envisioning lab coats and a giant factory with stacks of ingredients and curious equipment, the Plum Deluxe studio in Portland, Oregon is decidedly more low-key.

I start with an intention in mind - a great tea to sip while reading a book, the perfect tea for cheering on a holiday celebration, an ideal tea for serving after a big meal. I draw upon my intuition and years of experience to blend up 2 or 3 different "test teas."

Using ingredients from around the world, our flavors are often informed by our love for the Pacific Northwest. Examples of this can be seen in our limited-edition Portland Rose City Chai and the best-selling Oregon Breakfast Black Tea. Next, I steep, sip, review, adjust, repeat. Teas that pass muster often go out to a small group of "tea testers" for further evaluation. Only the best teas are hand-blended in larger batches for our Plum Deluxe customers.

We are a small, specialized, family-owned-and-operated business. You have my promise that everything we make is blended with love, positive intentions, and so much gratitude for you, our Plum Deluxe customer.

Tea Maker's Notes

You might be as surprised as I was to see banana in a tea - but it's just one of those flavor things that works really, really well! It reminds me more of creamy chocolate chestnuts than banana, actually.

Very Nice!

I received this tea as a sample with my purchase. Initially I wasn’t sure I would like it, as I’m not much of a dessert tea fan. The smell was too “foody” for me, but I wanted to try it anyway. It is DELICIOUS! I absolutely love it, and I plan to buy it in the future. I’d recommend it to anyone.

A sweet treat

I do like this tea a lot, however I don’t feel as if it actually tastes like banana bread. It does pair very well with banana bread. I love it with a splash on milk.

Wanted more banana!

Was very curious about this one and got it as a sample. Itis very delicious and nutty and sweet but it was hard for me to taste the banana which is one of my favorite flavors.

Not what I expected

Although it smells amazing, the flavor profile is much to mild. I tried several different ways of making this trying to find the best way to get the flavor I feel this is meant to be. My final attempt was to loose steep the leaves I made a boiling pitcher 1.5L and added 4 tsp of leaves and let steep for 5 min and strained out the leaves. Only then did the flavor come across more like what the scent is.I had a cup hot and then refrigerated the remaining and it made a nice breakfast tea.

Who knew?

I didn't think desert teas were going to be a staple...but this one changed my mind. It isn't just a desert for me! I enjoy it in the morning, when I like hot and sweet, but not heavy. It is perfect in the afternoon when I'm involved in some project and I want a pick me up. Lovely flavors, just sweet enough (honey enhances the flavors, doesn't overwhelm them) Thank you!
