Do you have the time? Of course you do. As soon as you read the question I bet your eyes flickered instinctively toward the corner of your computer screen. Or maybe you reached for your cell phone. It is true both of those are handy time keepers, but they’re also boring.
There are 86,400 seconds in each day, which equals a lot of opportunities for you to check the time. Don’t waste a single one of them on boring stick-figure numerals. Instead, invest your time wisely with watches and clocks that beautify your space, fuel creativity, lift your spirits, and communicate your unique style.
Before you decide I have an abnormal loathing for digital clocks, allow me to point out that not all digital numbers are created equal. My prejudice is specifically against the boring ones. It is entirely possible for a timepiece to be digital and dashing at the same time.
Classic is another category unfairly discounted for being “safe” or, even worse, “dull.” The archetypal styles for clocks and watches persist because they set a high standard in design that has yet to be surpassed. Classic style is timeless style.
If your style leans more toward class clown than it does classic, there is no need to take time too seriously. Lively hues and whimsical details such as polka dots add spunk to traditional watches and clocks. Time flies when you are having fun, so give your look wings with a few playful pieces.
Remember those 86,400 seconds? Well, those make minutes. Which make hours, which make days, which make…you know. Keeping time is a pretty regulated thing, but fashion is not. At least, not the way you do it! Therefore, I fully expect to see you putting unexpected elements to work tracking the hours for you.
Time is fleeting, but style is not. With so many quirky, industrial, mid-century modern, beautiful clocks and watches out there it is easy to find the time piece that suits you perfectly. If you weren’t sparked by any of the above, here are few of my other favorite watches, clocks, and sources thereof.
