Okay, I have a confession to make. I really want to love egg nog, but I just can’t enjoy it. Unless it has booze in it.
*hangs head in shame*
I know that I am not the only one who enjoys an egg nog cocktail – my favorite these days is the wonderful egg nog white russian. Here’s the recipe.
Egg Nog White Russian
- 3/4 cup egg nog (I prefer the “light” versions)
- 1.5 ounces Kahlua
- .5 ounces rum
Mix gently and serve over ice with a dash of nutmeg and/or cinnamon on top. Optional: whipped cream.
That is it! Simple and easy. White russians come in many varieties; here are some other experiments for you to try.
- Egg Nog White Russian Whip: Instead of the splash of rum, add a splash of whipped cream vodka. It’s a wonderful compliment to the Kahlua.
- Spicy Egg Nog White Russian: Instead of the splash of rum, add a splash of Fireball cinnamon whiskey. (Just a splash, please.) Really brings out those cinnamon notes.
