Our ethical and editorial policy has one overarching goal: To always do the right thing for our readers.
While we do accept compensation for editorial as a part of our business model, it is our reader who is our true customer. Everything we do has those readers – consumers – in mind.
Our aim is to give our readers the best information we can find to help them make informed decisions on how they spend their disposable income. We believe that niche sites such as ours are strongly in alignment with true consumer preferences and can deliver highly relevant content to the world’s sophisticated and demanding readerships. We’ve spent years earning the trust of our audiences and our peers, and aim to keep our stellar professional reputation in publishing intact.
Our editorial principles are as follows:
- We accept sponsorship and/or compensation in exchange for content: The economics of our business require the support of our advertising partners and sponsoring organizations to help us get a true picture of their products, so we can make appropriate recommendations to our readers. We promise to do our best to observe, experience, and report back, with honest opinions. It’s our job.
- We disclose: Features or articles will contain appropriate disclosure statements when compensation or complimentary products were received. These statements may be phrased in various ways and means, such as “this feature sponsored by…,” “this series was made possible by support from…, ” or “brought to you by our brand partner….”
- We state our true opinion: We only work with advertisers and sponsors who give us the flexibility to do this. If someone asks us “to only write good things,” we aren’t interested. We don’t want anyone to think that we write good things about a place or product because someone paid us to do so. Or conversely, write bad things about something because we weren’t paid. That’s not cool. (Having said that, they are our opinions and experiences – a reader’s mileage may vary.)
We may make use of affiliate or sponsored links to promote our advertisers and partners throughout the site. All advertisers/partners are vetted and come with our approval/recommendation, though we hold no responsibility or liability for vendors and suppliers not part of the Hayes Media Group, our parent company.
This publication has thrived since 2007 because of the professional reputation that we enjoy within the industry, both our singular contributors and publication as a whole. We take our ethics seriously – and our readers expect nothing less.
